This is a simple process on how to remove toilet lid with button flush but there are many different types, some with screws.

On the outside of the two buttons, there is a circular metal tube, that you can twist anticlockwise.
You will notice the buttons loosen as you turn the piece of metal.
Once it is fully undone, the tube will lift out.
This means you can now lift off the cistern lid.
