A tap, also known as a faucet, is a device used to control the flow of water from a plumbing system. Taps are commonly found in laundries, kitchens and bathrooms, and other areas where water access is needed.

They typically consist of a valve that can be opened or closed to regulate the water flow, and they may have handles or levers to operate and control the flow and temperature.

A tap service to replace washers and other parts can range from $170 – $220 AUD.

For a tap service, which includes replacing the washers, we charge $190, which includes the call out fee.

There are a number of key reasons why you should repair or replace a tap when it is damaged:

Leak Prevention

One of the most common issues with a damaged tap is water leakage. A leaking tap can waste a significant amount of water over time, which will lead to increased water bills. Repairing or replacing the tap prevents water wastage and reduces ongoing costs.

Water Conservation

In addition to preventing leaks, repairing or replacing a damaged tap ensures water conservation. Modern taps often come with features designed to promote water efficiency, and addressing any damage helps maintain this functionality.

Prevention of Water Damage

A damaged tap can cause water to seep into surrounding areas, potentially leading to water damage in the walls, floors, or cabinets. Prompt repairs help prevent structural damage and the associated costs of fixing or replacing water damaged materials.

Maintaining Water Pressure

A damaged tap could result in reduced water pressure., Reduced water pressure can make everyday tasks such as washing dishes or taking a shower less efficient. Repairing or replacing the tap ensures consistent water pressure.

Preventing Contamination

Taps in kitchens and bathrooms are crucial in maintaining hygiene. If a tap is damaged, it may be harder to clean which could lead to an increased risk of bacterial growth. Timely repairs or replacement contribute to a clean and sanitary water supply.

Aesthetic Considerations

Taps also contribute to the overall aesthetics of a kitchen, laundry or bathroom. A damaged or worn-out tap can detract from the visual appeal of the space. Repairing or replacing the tap can refresh the appearance of the area.

Energy Efficiency

Some taps, especially in hot water systems, may contribute to energy efficiency. A damaged tap can lead to heat loss and inefficiencies in the water heating process. Repairing or replacing it can improve energy efficiency.

Functionality

The primary function of a tap is to provide a controlled flow of water for various purposes. If a tap is damaged, it may not operate as intended, making daily activities more challenging. Repairing or replacing the tap restores its functionality.

Repairing or replacing a damaged tap is essential to prevent water leaks, conserve water and reduce further damage. Types of Taps

In Australia, there are several types of taps commonly used. Here are a few examples:

Mixer Taps: These taps have a single spout and handle that control both hot and cold water flow. They are popular in kitchens and bathrooms.

Pillar Taps: Also known as two-handle taps, pillar taps have separate hot and cold water controls. They are typically found in older homes and traditional bathroom settings.

Sensor Taps: These taps use motion sensors to detect the presence of hands and automatically dispense water. They are commonly used in public restrooms to promote hygiene.

Wall-Mounted Taps: As the name suggests, these taps are installed on the wall rather than on the sink or basin. They provide a sleek and modern look to the bathroom or kitchen.

Pull-Out Taps: These taps have a flexible hose that can be pulled out, allowing for easy rinsing and filling of pots and pans. They are commonly found in kitchen sinks.
